Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my battles, success and adventures with Stage IV Lung Cancer.  I hope you have a blessed day!

Coming Home

Coming Home

Today I came home from the hospital. Two things were bad about today. First, two Dr’s came into my room and asked if I was ready to get the chest tube taken out. I was so ready to get that miserable thing taken from me. They asked me to lie down but there was no way that I could because of the pressure in my lungs. When I tried to lay down, it felt like my lungs were going to explode from immense pressure. They had me bend forward on the bed the best I could and hum out loud. They counted to three as I was humming softly and as they started to pull the chest tube out, I increased the volume of my hum three fold. It felt like they were pulling a snake out of my body that was three feet long. That was the weirdest feeling I have ever felt and it wasn’t pleasant coming out but the instant pressure relief I felt when it was out made it all worth it. I felt like I could breathe again with full breathes. The second bad thing is that I am unable to lie down to sleep. I have to sit in a chair and Dustin gave me his shark, George, to hold on to so that i can fall asleep in the chair. This was my bed for the next five days while my brother stayed in my bed beside me and was up to help me to the bathroom or whatever I needed. It was really nice having him around from California. He’s a chef out there, so I ate well even though my appetite was small, the food was delicious.
