Music Soothes The Savage Beast
Kermit said it best. In July of 2015, I was dealing with a divorce after 27 years of marriage. It was really tough and I had a very hard time dealing with it. I truly believe that God puts things in our lives to make us better human beings and I believe God was trying to give me signs to get out and move on with my life and I didn’t listen, so he threw me a curve ball and it got my attention instantaneously. I made a pact with God that if he spared my life and granted me a long healthy life here on earth, that I promised to live my life to the fullest and try to be the best man that I can be that would be honorable to him and LIVE my life and be happy. One of my greatest pleasures is playing music and I have been performing since I have been 8 years old. Campfires and weddings and school dances and talent shows and eventually playing locally in restaurants and taverns. I wanted to share my love and passion of music and entertaining with my son and daughter and decided to form a band so that all three of us could perform on the same stage that I performed on for over 12 years. I spoke with other musicians and eventually formed Duneside Classic Rewind and we consist of lead guitar, drums, bass, and my son plays keys and sings, and I play guitar and sing, and my daughter sings as well. We celebrated my daughters 21st birthday as she performed on the same stage as her brother and I and the stage that I performed on so many years before. The night was a huge success but a sad one as well. A friend of mine for many years approached me and stated that she had been diagnosed with brain and thyroid cancer and was undergoing surgery the following week. I told her about my diagnosis also and we both hugged one another and said we would pray for each other. What a terrible disease and she is only 52.
